Many of us are seeking respite from the pressures of our daily routines. The theory is that in this stay-at-home period, we all have lots of time on our hands. That may be the case for some but for others, they are busier than ever.
Life today is characterised by its busyness and constant change. Home-schooling, working from home, supporting vulnerable relatives as much as possible, and dealing with the new dynamics of 24 hours at home with the family. It’s no wonder your work-life balance is out of alignment. The uncertainty of when you will have more control over how you live your life will take its toll on your mental, emotional and physical health and wellbeing.
Making the decision to take time out to focus on your needs can be a hard one when there are so many other things you could be doing. A large proportion of your mental capacity is probably being taken up as you strive to support others with their mental health. You may find yourself saying yes to more than you can manage. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that our busy lifestyles and demands on our time have detrimental effects on our health and wellbeing. This can manifest in us in different ways. Signs you may have noticed in yourself could include: –
- low energy and insomnia
- increased blood pressure and recurring flare-ups of an illness or illnesses
- poor decision choices in terms of food, drink and exercise
- increased tension in muscles causing pain and discomfort
- physical aches and pains in your shoulders, lower back or knees
- experiencing brain fog, feeling overwhelmed and frazzled.
How to fill your cup
You’ve probably heard the saying you can’t pour from an empty cup which is true. You are more able to help others if your cup of kindness is full and overflowing. But how do you fill your cup? Finding the time to take time out for yourself and your needs can feel like an impossible task and may have feelings of guilt attached to it too. Attending one of my online workshops will help to rejuvenate, invigorate and restore your sense of wellbeing and put you on your to-do list.
These events allow you to take some well-deserved timeout to re-awaken both your mind and body. In supportive group environments, my workshops are designed to help you find new and different ways of managing your feelings and emotions to help you keep your cup filled mentally, emotionally and physically. You will be given tools and tips and learn techniques that will support your health and wellness long-term.
