Are you looking for a way to de-stress, reduce pain, or gain some focus and clarity in these uncertain times?
Many people who choose to have a reiki treatment know the benefits of having this treatment. They tell me that when they are feeling stressed, overwhelmed or frazzled, the treatment helps to restore a level of mental and physical relaxation, making them feel uplifted, lighter and calmer. With the current situation in the UK, we could all do with some of that.
Of all the therapies I’ve learnt and offered over the last 15 years, this is the second most popular.
Clients tell me that they feel more focussed and more able to deal with situations in their life after their Reiki treatment. Here’s what Caroline from Tamworth had to say…
Having low mood, anxiety and lack of motivation I was at a low point in my life and was struggling to change this on my own. I decided to have some regular treatments with Sharon and the reiki I received played a huge part in helping me to make the changes required. I’m now mentally more relaxed, have a calmer state of mind and less stress. I would rate Sharon’s service as 5/5.
But what is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of hands-on (or hands-off) healing treatment. The word Reiki has two parts – Rei and Ki. Rei means Universal Spirit and Ki means life force energy. So the word Reiki translates as Universal life-force energy. The Reiki system that is mainly used in the UK today was developed and practised by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan in 1922 when he set up a healing clinic.
When Reiki energy is given as a treatment the practitioner acts as a channel and allows the healing energy to pass through them to the client. During this non-intrusive treatment, you will lie fully clothed on a therapy couch where you can drift away and return feeling relaxed and calm.
Reiki energy works holistically on the mind, body and spirit and works by re-attuning and harmonising the body’s own vibrational energies and healing systems. Whether you choose to have a treatment for health and balance or ill health and stress, Reiki will have an effect on your energy levels. After a treatment, you may experience an almost immediate effect. Chronic or long-standing conditions usually require more treatments as they have taken longer to manifest. The Reiki energy can continue to have an effect on you for a couple of days after your treatment.
What happens during a treatment?
After your consultation, you will remain fully clothed and I will ask you to lie or sit in a comfortable positive with your eyes closed. To enhance your treatment, the room will be dimly lit and I will play relaxing music. Starting at your head, I will hover my hands above each of your seven main chakras and allow the universal Reiki energy to flow through me and out my hands to you. Reiki can also be given distantly. Distant Reiki is when I send Reiki energy to you wherever you are in the world. The process is very similar to that of an in-person treatment.
How you feel differs from person to person and you will have a different experience at each Reiki treatment session. You will usually feel a level of warmth around the area of your body that my hands are hovering over. Some people see colours or feel fine tingling sensations. Others have had an emotional release. You will certainly feel very relaxed and calm, and you might even fall asleep. After your treatment, you will need to have a drink of water.
My Reiki treatment was like someone had turned the tap on and my anxiety had been washed away. Karen, Derby
Many clients will book a course of six treatments taking the first two weekly, the next two fortnightly and the last two monthly. They will then go onto having a treatment each month for maintenance.
