Reflexology is the most popular treatment that I offer.
I love having any treatment, reflexology, reiki, different types of massages, and I don’t give a second thought to getting ready and on the couch. I think this comes from having a lot of treatments whilst training and also being a treatment model for a friend who has a training school.
I’ve heard people say they would love to have a treatment, but they are apprehensive about the whole ‘treatment thing’ (getting undressed, what to wear, do I talk etc.). These reasons shouldn’t stop you from experiencing this amazing treatment that will benefit your health and wellbeing. If you’ve never had a treatment before and have questions, here’s some info to help you.
But first, here are three things to know before your treatment:
- Never be afraid to ask your therapist a question. She (or he) is there to help you and to put you at ease.
- There’s no such thing as a silly question. If you’re thinking it, your therapist has probably answered it before.
- Although massage movements are used during your treatment (which is lovely), reflexology offers you more benefits than you would get from a foot massage or a facial.
Ten top questions I get asked about a reflexology treatment:
1. What do I take off?
For foot reflexology – your shoes and socks so that your feet are bare.
For facial reflexology – any make-up, necklaces and large earrings.
2. What do I wear to have the treatment?
You can wear your usual clothes as all you will need to remove is in question one above. You will be covered with a blanket during your treatment, with only your feet exposed.
3. I have ticklish feet. Will it tickle?
Foot reflexology techniques use a firm but gentle pressure and therefore shouldn’t tickle.
4. What if I have a nail or foot infection?
Both conditions can be highly infectious so if you have any concerns please let me know beforehand. We can then decide together if the treatment can go ahead with me wearing treatment gloves, the type used by a foot-care practitioner.
5. My feet smell or I’ll be coming straight from work so my feet will be sweaty.
No problem. Cleansing your feet is done at the start of every treatment. This is also the stage that I will check for any infections.
6. Should I talk during the treatment?
That’s up to you. Most people lie quietly on the couch with their eyes closed and even fall asleep. Others feel more comfortable talking to start with but then usually stop talking and just relax quietly.
7. When can I ask questions about the treatment?
There will be time at the end of the session for you to ask questions. However, if you feel any discomfort during the session please let me know at the time.
8. How will I feel during the treatment?
It’s different for everyone but most people say they feel very relaxed, calm and peaceful when they have a treatment with me.
9. How should I feel after the treatment?
There’s no specific way to feel and it’s different for everyone. At the end of the session, I will ask you how you felt.
10. How often should I have a treatment?
Again, this is different for everyone and we will talk about this at the end of the session.
So now hopefully all your questions have been answered, choose the type of treatment you would like, get booked in and start enjoying the benefits of the lovely treatment. If you have any more questions get in touch.
