I love crystals. These beautiful rock formations have been formed in the earth over millions of years.
They come in many different shapes and sizes with each having their own sparkle, energies and properties.
They are widely available to buy and can be used in jewellery, to decorate your home, during meditations or just to have and to hold. There are hundreds of different types, from the well-known rose quartz, amethysts, rubies and diamonds, to the lesser-known citrine, carnelian and snowflake obsidian and everything in between.
When used in a treatment session I would choose each crystal intuitively to support the individual needs of each client. I would place them on or around the body so that the energies of the crystals could work with the body’s own energies to help restore balance and promote self-healing.
On a family weekend away in Cheltenham recently I stumbled across a lovely crystal shop and just had to go in. These little beauties wanted to come home with me. Rose quartz, my favourite. This crystal resonates with the heart chakra and represents love; love for yourself and love for other people and things. I think crystals are beautiful – their colours, how they feel when I hold them and the energy I receive from them when working with them.
I qualified as a crystal therapist many years ago and have a large collection of crystals which I use around my home. Although I don’t offer crystal therapy treatments any more, I do use crystals around my treatment room and choose them intuitively either as gifts for clients or to use during treatment sessions. During reflexology and reiki treatment, I draw on the unique energies of the crystals I choose to enhance the treatment. There are many books available that give full details of each crystal including their origins, colour, meanings, how to cleanse and the many ways of using crystals.
Some crystals I use
If you don’t know where to start when buying a crystal and using crystals, just start by choosing the one that you are drawn to. Your intuition will guide you to the one you need the most. You don’t need to know the benefits of a crystal to enjoy it and access its energy.
Using crystals for stress
There are many different crystals that you can use to help you to stay grounded and focused, to support mental relaxation and calm your mind. There will be one or two crystals that are suitable for you and your lifestyle. During my online Calm and Clarity Hour, crystals can be discussed to see how you could use them yourself at home and have them as part of your stress or anxiety management toolkit.

Take a look at my book, Self-care for Busy Women. It’s full of hints, tips, checklists and trackers and will show you how spending just a few minutes each day focusing on your mental, emotional and physical health can have a big influence on your mindset and well-being. You’ll also be able to create your own 28-day self-care plan that fits seamlessly into your busy lifestyle.
